How Lankawa builds the district composite index — and what it is not.

Live inputs

  • Octane CPC petrol 92 reference price (national).
  • PropertyLK district median land bands, Colombo-normalized for the property component.
  • FoodLK or Ariva Life essentials basket when available; otherwise seed food basket estimates.
  • Coconut is extracted from the food staple items as a visible COL food signal, with live, wfp_hdx, life_federation, or seed provenance.

Composite method

When live federation inputs are available, Lankawa refreshes the national petrol reference and rescales district food baskets from the essentials estimate. Property components use live PropertyLK medians relative to Colombo. The Coconut Index surfaces the coconut staple price used by the food signal. District ranks come from a blended index (seed structure + live components). If partners are offline, the published seed snapshot is shown with seed provenance.

Limits

This is not official NCPI, CCPI, or Department of Census and Statistics HIES data. It is a civic comparison tool with provenance badges. Do not use it for wage setting or formal inflation claims.
